2008 COUNTERFEIT. "Blackberries and cherry preserves meet mocha and oak spice in a glass of wine that bears zero relationship to its price tag. We threw this into a lineup of notable Cabs (we won't name names) that go for $50+ and this finished second in the tasting. You'll thank us later for finding you a new house red."

"Allegiance 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon. Strongly flavored, lacking perhaps some nuance but makes up for it in sheer power. Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with some Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, it wows with blackberry, cassis, blueberry and cherry flavors that finish dry and spicy. A good structure of tannins and acids suggests limited time on the cellar. Drink now through 2014.
90 Points!"

"The Vault 2008 by Banknote Wine Company. A lovely wine to drink now. It's soft, dry, balanced and complex, with berry, cherry, beef jerky, black pepper and spice flavors, and a sweet coating of smoky oak. Zinfandel, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, in roughly equal parts.
90 Points!"

"Reminiscent of so many of the big Zin-Cab-Syrah blended wines from California. Its juicy, perfect with a steak, all the people that like Orin-Swift The Prisoner, and things of that nature, this is your style."

"THE SECOND RELEASE OF A CLASSIC!
The Vaults’ newly released 2007 vintage, with its ideal growing conditions, truly embodies the best that Napa has to offer. Dare we say, the new vintage has even surpassed the quality of The Prisoner and is on the coattails of its popularity."

"For those of you who bought the 2006 vintage (and loved it - BIG PRESS!), the 2007 is even better - really! This release is a blend of 44% Zinfandel, 35% Syrah and 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, handsourced from Napa's best vineyard sources. The nose offers up an intense aroma of ripe black currant and plum with a touch of chocolate and pepper spice. The wine is full in body loaded with bright boysenberry/black currant and dark chocolate flavors. This wine is silky on the mid palate and finishes with a whiff of fine integrated tannins."

This Orin Swift "The Prisoner"-esqe wine is a bold, juicy rich, gushy red wine that goes down a little too easy. With loads of slightly jammy berries/cherries, tobacco, cinnamon, licorice, clove vanilla and espresso flavors, this is 21st Century Wine Hedonism!
Slam-dunk-good.

"While the blend is very similar, the wine is a bit more elegant and livelier than 'the prisoner' it's certainly a red I would easily recommend."

Freshly uncorked this wine is clearly complex, each layer is pleasantly received and the wine exhibits subtle tannins and a medium body. The flavors flow smoothly one to another in ascending order. Ever present vanilla and all spice, black berries and cherry, mocha and leather dryness overcoming slight detection of residual sugar.
4 out of 5 stars when decanted.
